Fishguard is directly on the A40 and and A487 roads in Pembrokeshire, Wales. This is a beautiful area of Wales, but also somewhat remote in terms of ferry ports. The nearest motorway, for example, is the M4 at Swansea. From here it can be a 1 and a half to 2 hour journey by car to reach Fishguard. Using the motorways, it can take around 4 hours from Birmingham to Fishguard. But there are advantages to taking the ferry from this seemingly remote ferry port. It is situated in a beautiful area and driving there will take you through some amazing countryside and scenery which, if you have time, can be an enjoyable part of the trip itself.
